Job Summary: Responsible for the operational management, performance tuning, and advanced troubleshooting of database systems. Requires deep technical expertise and supports strategic planning and mentoring of junior staff. Ensures database security, high availability, and compliance with standards. Main Responsibilities and Duties: - Manage installation, configuration, and upgrading of databases and tools. - Monitor and optimize performance and ensure high availability. - Day-to-day upkeep and availability of all database servers, including lower environments. - Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to databases and data processing. - Design and develop databases to support the organization's applications and business operations. - Enforce database security policies and perform regular audits. - Implement encryption, access control, and compliance practices. - Design and manage backup/recovery plans. - Participate in DR drills and ensure recovery readiness. - Develop and maintain scripts for automation and monitoring tasks. - Optimize SQL queries and manage indexing. - Guide junior officers and share technical knowledge. - Assist in planning database infrastructure for future needs. - Work with development and infrastructure teams on database requirements. - Support application deployments and performance troubleshooting. - Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in database management. Skills and Competencies: - Proficient in Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL administration. - Strong ability in indexing, query tuning, and troubleshooting. - Experience with clustering, replication, and backup strategies. - Implementation of encryption, access control, and regulatory compliance. - Skilled in SQL, PL/SQL, Shell scripting, or PowerShell for automation. - Capable of planning and executing platform/version migrations. - Forecasting and scaling database resources based on growth. - Fast response and troubleshooting of complex DB issues. - Good communication skills; confident in making technical decisions under pressure. - Analytical thinking with focus on root cause resolution.
